Intercultural Center for
Health, Research & Wellness
Since 2004, the Intercultural Center for Health, Research and Wellness, a nonprofit organization, has focused on its priorities of reducing health disparities by providing education and training to Community Health Workers throughout the U.S. and in Latin America.

Behavioral Health Navigation
Behavioral health challenges, including depression, anxiety, chronic stress, stigma, and emotional distress, often go unaddressed in communities due to misinformation, fear, and limited access to trusted support. Community Health Workers (CHWs) are uniquely positioned to bridge this gap. The Behavioral Health Community Navigator Training equips CHWs with practical tools to recognize warning signs, reduce stigma, support early referral, and guide individuals toward appropriate care pathways. By strengthening communication skills, navigation strategies, and community engagement approaches, this training prepares CHWs to address behavioral health concerns as an essential component of whole-person health. Furthermore, as Mental Health First Aid Instructors, we continue to certify more CHWs and Promotores to become First Aiders.

Medical students conduct blood pressure and glucose screenings, providing hands-on preventive care to community members in a welcoming, accessible setting. Through collaboration with Promotores and Community Health Workers, they bridge clinical training with real-world service, bringing early detection and education directly to those who need it most.
